Holistic Wellness

Updated: Dec 17, 2022

Holistic Wellness is a concept that recognizes the whole. It is based on the understanding that energetically we are not separate from God, from humanity, or from life on earth. Therefore, our health and vitality is determined by factors that arise from both within and without. It is determined by how well we maintain balance and live in harmony within ourselves, with others, and with the earth. It is determined by our beliefs, and whether we are living in right alignment with the Divine. We each have a healer within, all we need to do is to awaken it, and trust in it.

The father of holistic health, Edgar Cayce, couldn’t have described it more succinctly: “Spirit is the life. The Mind is the builder. The Physical is the result.”

As Bruce Lipton writes in this article on the wisdom of our cells: “Our thoughts, beliefs, and mind control our genes, our behavior, and the life we experience.

Where do our thoughts and beliefs come from? – From our perceptions and our experiences. We perceive the environment around us, but what if we are laboring under misperceptions? If our perceptions are not accurate, then we can cause mis-adjustments in our biology. Seeing ourselves and our world as made up of matter, where everything is separate, is a misperception.

The reality is that we are made of pure energy and as such cannot be separated from the energy around us. This is the first misperception that must change on our path towards holistic wellness. Understanding that we are not victims of our genes, and that we hold the power to control their expression is another.

Vibrational frequency is central to holistic wellness. We are all made of pure energy - at the quantum level we are nothing more or less than vibration. As Nikola Tesla put it: “If you wish to understand the universe, think of energy, frequency and vibration.”

Everything in this world has a vibrational frequency – from the foods we eat, to our thoughts and emotions, our words, and the cells that make up our physical body, etc. Holistic wellness is achieved when we are in harmony and balance, and when we keep our vibrational frequency elevated.

ree

Dis-Harmony = Dis-Ease. We don’t feel well when we are not in harmony and when we aren’t vibrating at a frequency that equals health for our own body and those around us.

We can work to maintain our vibrational frequency at a level that is in right alignment when we are able to witness negative thought and emotion, and then learn to change our patterns, to let go, and to forgive; when we learn to live with acceptance and gratitude; when we learn to be impeccable with our words; when we minimize and eliminate unhealthy foods and toxins; when we connect with the earth; and when we recognize that the people and environments we surround ourselves with impact our vibration, and so set boundaries.

Leveling up your vibration is the path towards healing. The lower the vibration, the greater the chance of imbalance and disease. Love is the most healing vibration because it is one of the highest, as is joy. Miraculous healings have occurred when someone who is ill falls in love. We’ve all heard the term, “love heals.” It is the vibrational energy emitted by this emotion or state of being that awakens the healer within, and that raises our own internal vibrations making it so that illness can no longer exist within us.

Bioenergetics is the future of medicine, yet it is also the past. Ancient cultures have understood this for millennia, but we have been so programmed to rely on science to confirm what we should already know, that their beliefs and approaches to living in health and harmony have been forgotten. That is until more recently.

Not only is science starting to prove what they have known, but we are now experiencing a resurgence and a reawakening of the ways of the Shaman and ancient cultures around the world. Their wisdom keepers are being called upon to share their wisdom with the world, that we might begin to remember, to understand, and to find our way back to who we truly are; to Self.

It is complex, yet also so simple. When we understand who we truly are and become conscious of how we are using our energy and impacting our own vibrational frequency, we can begin to understand how to navigate our journey towards harmony, health, peace, and happiness – regardless of the outside circumstances.

The foundation of holistic wellness begins with our physical health through lifestyle adjustments. What and how we eat, our movement, sleep, and the addressing of imbalance and disease are all important, but we also should understand that our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs have a very significant impact and influence on our physical body and its health. Some would go as far as to say that they are the most important aspects.

TRUE NORTH's HOLISTIC WELLNESS MODEL:

ree

True North’s holistic approach to wellness incorporates the following:

1 – Physical (body, connection to earth)

2 – Conscious Mind (thoughts, inner power)

3 – Subconscious Soul (desires, behaviors)

4 – Emotions (energy, feelings, connection to others)

5 – Expression (intellect, speaking our truth)

6 – Awareness (awareness, intuitive wisdom)

7 – Spirituality (connection to the Divine, true understanding of Self)

The aim of holistic wellness is to bring harmony and balance to all aspects of our being. The model of holistic wellness created by True North addresses the aspects that have to do with the mind, the body and our spirit. This model also follows the seven chakras or energy centers of our body, from the root (physical) to the crown (spirit). Our energy centers are where our nervous systems and our endocrine systems intersect and are where and how energy can help or hinder our path towards health and spiritual growth.

Our coaching and courses are organized around this model of wellness. Following are ways we can work to achieve balance and harmony in each of the aspects:

1 – Physical Body

To maintain harmony and balance in the physical body we consider the following:

  • Nutrition – whole, natural, living foods; addressing deficiencies and imbalances

  • Movement – walking, yoga, strengthening and aerobic exercise

  • Sleep; work/life balance; time for rest and recovery

  • Detox programs

  • Breathwork

  • Connection to earth, grounding, nature

  • Use of alternative healing modalities as necessary – floral essences, homeopathy, chiropractic, naturopathy, acupuncture, massage, sound baths, herbals, oils, saunas, ice baths, energy healing, spiritual healing, etc.

2 – Subconscious

To maintain harmony and balance within our subconscious we consider the following:

  • Shadow work - bringing any pain, darkness into the light so it can be healed

  • Use of sound, mantra, breath and meditation to aid this healing

  • Identifying and halting repetitious reactive and behavioral patterns

  • Learning to live in the now; presence

  • Awakening our creativity, use of art therapy

  • Dream journaling

  • Soul retrieval, spiritual healing

  • Counseling

3 – Conscious Mind

To maintain harmony and balance of the mind we consider the following:

  • Silencing, witnessing, and controlling our thoughts

  • Discovering our inner power, self-confidence

  • Addressing any pain, old stories, memories that come to the surface from subconscious – embracing them, letting them go

  • Mindfulness

  • Journaling

  • Meditation

  • Breath work

4 – Emotions

To maintain harmony and balance within our heart and emotions we consider the following:

  • Heart coherence and connection with others

  • Learning to stay centered and balancing our emotions

  • Don’t identify with our emotions – experience them and let them flow through

  • Releasing and letting go

  • Forgiveness of Self and others

  • Gratitude and acceptance

5 – Expression

To maintain harmony and balance in our ability to express our truth we consider the following:

  • Fulfilling our desire to learn

  • Enhancing our ability to express our truth

  • Being impeccable with our words

  • Expressing our creativity

  • Manifestation; visualization

6 – Awareness

To maintain harmony and balance in our awareness and our intuition we consider the following:

  • Setting Positive Intentions

  • Prayer

  • Meditation

  • Using and trusting your intuition

  • Achieving wisdom and understanding (not the same as intellect)

7 – Spirituality

To maintain harmony and balance within our spirit we consider the following:

  • Our connection to the Divine, to God, to the Source of all creation

  • Trusting that we are part of a greater reality; Understanding Oneness

  • Scripture reading and devotion with a spiritual focus, prayer

  • Periods of silence, meditation, and contemplation

  • Fasting

  • Losing attachment to the material

  • Healing and balancing of all other chakras and aspects of wellness
